What are you working on at Capia or on your side projects right now, and what does it involve?
Right now, on two fronts.
At Capia, I'm deep in the two production apps I've built from empty repos: a multi-tenant organization-data platform and a traffic dashboard. I own everything end to end, so "what I'm working on" is often less a feature and more the systems around the features. Recent focus areas:
- DX work: all-in on TanStack, frontend types generated from the backend OpenAPI schema, and CI that fails if the types drift. Plus about 1,500 tests with Playwright running on every PR.
- Observability: OpenTelemetry wired across 8 repos into self-hosted SigNoz, so when something breaks (or someone asks "is it slow?"), I answer with traces instead of guesses.
- The usual silent problems: self-hosted runners, docs, one-command setup. A one-line brief like "build a chatbot" tends to turn into a workspace-scoped analytics agent.
On the side, the honest list:
- This site, actually. The portfolio is a newer rebuild in TanStack Start with static pre-rendering, Content Collections for Markdown, and an obsessive amount of performance work. I even wrote up the Lighthouse grind: Every Optimization Behind a Perfect Lighthouse Score.
- Trends, my personal finance app focused on projecting future finances from past income and expenses. It's been going on and off for years and has produced zero output so far. I keep it on the list anyway because one day it'll click.
- Small things like Bookmarks, a link collection of UI inspiration that looks like zed.dev, because I need somewhere to put the tabs I never close.
So: shipping at work, iterating here, and nursing a long-running side project with a perfect 0 users. The usual balance.
